I don't know why you would think that. I've only moved 7 times since I moved to Indy. However, this time it isn't me. Its my blog. I'm moving to WordPress. I don't know if it will be better, but I have been having spacing issues on my Blogger. It won't let me put spaces in my posts. After much research I found that there is a group of us that have been having this problem since 2010. And Blogger has done nothing about it. So I'm moving. To my 5 followers, please update your readers to reflect the new address:<br /><br /><a href="http://leslies1820.wordpress.com/">http://leslies1820.wordpress.com</a>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-62186220600667824262011-04-18T16:03:00.003-04:002011-04-18T16:19:38.813-04:00Neighborhood Clean UpOn Saturday morning I got up real early and went down to the Sacred Heart neighborhood. This is an area just south of downtown. I would say it is in the worst conditions out of all of the sides of downtown. Run down houses, yards filled with crap, old broken down cards. Chris made me go look at houses for rent in this area even though I told him it was pointless b/c I would never ever ever live there. Anywho, I signed up for this clean up because my grandma grew up in the Sacred Heart area and went to church at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In fact, that is where we spent many Saturday nights with her in her last years and its where we had her funeral. I thought it would be neat to give back to this area that was a home to my grandma and my family for so many years. The basic idea behind this group that I was volunteering for was not only to clean up the area, but instead of leaving it a big empty lot, they would turn it into a garden that produced fruits and vegetables for the people in the community. We started two of the four gardens that they will make this spring. I weeded, I raked, and then the worst came. I helped shovel soil into wheel barrows that were taken across the street to the second garden. At first when the pile was high, I thought this is easy! But as the pile got lower and I got more tired, oh wow. Yesterday I was definitely feeling it. So we just started the gardens. They will be going back every Saturday to do a little bit more work. One of the other neat things was that I met the guy who bought my family's funeral home. So he was happy to meet someone from the Lauck family and told me to come by to see all the changes (um, no thank you) and that business was up 30% from last year (awesome!). He gave me his business card which of course I will be using to keep my dad in check. :-)Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-79774034010770516502011-04-11T08:45:00.002-04:002011-04-11T08:55:55.699-04:00CribbageWhen I was making my list of 101 things to do in a 1001 days, I knew I was going to have to put "Learn to play Cribbage." I think it was around the second year Chris and I had been dating that he tried to teach me. I got frustrated and told him to buzz off. Since part of the reason I did this list was to grow, I knew what needed to be done. At some point, I was going to have to suck it up and learn to play. So Friday night we were sitting around bored and I said, let's do it. Teach me how to play Cribbage. And he did. He did a very good job. He was patient with me because, trust me, its a very complicated game. I'm not even going to begin to explain it, but here's a super cute picture of me with the cribbage board. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqg9ItJb6K13m5BQKkVT7panE4gylztkqFVYAromk_c-Fq8SMiKEns6oeF5SMak6P9IRc2nwBA4FLXKxWVyci5WTh7z1IMkeep_NRK6AYsL5P0ViCwLvosS0gKayWfDf3ZpHSvpHltaME/s1600/Cribbage.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594306569307599650" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqg9ItJb6K13m5BQKkVT7panE4gylztkqFVYAromk_c-Fq8SMiKEns6oeF5SMak6P9IRc2nwBA4FLXKxWVyci5WTh7z1IMkeep_NRK6AYsL5P0ViCwLvosS0gKayWfDf3ZpHSvpHltaME/s320/Cribbage.jpg" /></a> I also knocked another item off my list by making herb and goat cheese stuffed chicken breasts. I can't believe I forgot to take a picture of them because they actually looked beautiful. I had some trouble cutting the pocket into the breast, but by the fourth one, I had it down. Maybe if you're lucky, I will stuff a breast for you too!Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-41272215824992974722011-04-04T08:30:00.002-04:002011-04-04T08:41:11.849-04:00Hiking in Brown CountyAs most of you know I have been trying to go walk more and lose some weight. So when my cousins, Matthew and Joanna invited me to go hiking in Brown County yesterday, there was maybe a .3 second pause before I accepted immediately. I've been living in Indy for 4 1/2 years and have yet to check out Brown County which is a huge 15,000 acre state park. Hank and I drove to their house and then we packed three adults, two dogs, and a picnic basket in a little Honda Civic. We did three trails equaling about 5 miles. The first trail we did was around Ogle Lake. Even though its not green out yet, it was still very pretty. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoR7bXqjKTsvRfvXSdqJHzzLv2vfc4gxSG2XvgKyHHpoAaF9TwUC5zvTbn07G4dSB8C-poGZAdoIv0QjuxjMii0Y0PKMGWPTEkf97rlI9xSD6rSKHI2jKe637O8AnAfnC2xZ_drYiqCAU/s1600/Brown+County+1.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591705375895883202" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoR7bXqjKTsvRfvXSdqJHzzLv2vfc4gxSG2XvgKyHHpoAaF9TwUC5zvTbn07G4dSB8C-poGZAdoIv0QjuxjMii0Y0PKMGWPTEkf97rlI9xSD6rSKHI2jKe637O8AnAfnC2xZ_drYiqCAU/s320/Brown+County+1.jpg" /></a> There were a lot of trees (duh) and they were so tall and the sky just looked so blue. I had to take this picture. I can only imagine what its like when the leaves have grown in or during the fall. <br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc00bf9UdcFh7UyNcKuwPvfdyB7V6ziDx4mvLejYQT2_HKNiEOcR3RMkyzWy7EUAigcQNo9YUIDLuJsYY-SSvu5kEJy1J_6p2JfcxBfg5FXQOsoYjphulZyUBxCo2XzoSeQfeONKkMIYc/s1600/Brown+County+4.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591705363690560642" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc00bf9UdcFh7UyNcKuwPvfdyB7V6ziDx4mvLejYQT2_HKNiEOcR3RMkyzWy7EUAigcQNo9YUIDLuJsYY-SSvu5kEJy1J_6p2JfcxBfg5FXQOsoYjphulZyUBxCo2XzoSeQfeONKkMIYc/s320/Brown+County+4.jpg" /></a>Juniper is a very experienced hiker and she led the way most of the time. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixFicpgBHt7sfLuCcJXpKHWe4m8u2yDeXwUC3EThA6VY6kabikAVE62uFg7zwokRnCGm_-HsCiSRtPedUPaXmRtpyXaC9ziwaSqqQf8Ou56Ao4ToXGgjW0asfH4AKxyztrE8Dq8KtmEcQ/s1600/Brown+County+2.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591705352796435522" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixFicpgBHt7sfLuCcJXpKHWe4m8u2yDeXwUC3EThA6VY6kabikAVE62uFg7zwokRnCGm_-HsCiSRtPedUPaXmRtpyXaC9ziwaSqqQf8Ou56Ao4ToXGgjW0asfH4AKxyztrE8Dq8KtmEcQ/s320/Brown+County+2.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div>And good ole Hank tried to lead the whole time. He was pulling so hard the entire time that my cousin, Matthew offered to walk Hank for part of the time. My arms are thanking him today. If anyone has any suggestions on how to break this habit, I'm open ears. We use the Gentle Leader right now but he keeps stopping and trying to paw it off his face. However, he does look super cute in this picture. </div><br /><div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhADsJQrY0Kz4ZxslevAyqymcw5CgsZHZ92H2CqOwQNxQKUJOr659uee7fMdaFVnaORN6kNGnC4DUfI5p68dpUNKMdmvPTDEGeYtkEo_WksxLsKVZgNfSr6eIGK26XJkMGPCNeQbk0j-Fg/s1600/Brown+County+3.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591705344737986322" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhADsJQrY0Kz4ZxslevAyqymcw5CgsZHZ92H2CqOwQNxQKUJOr659uee7fMdaFVnaORN6kNGnC4DUfI5p68dpUNKMdmvPTDEGeYtkEo_WksxLsKVZgNfSr6eIGK26XJkMGPCNeQbk0j-Fg/s320/Brown+County+3.jpg" /></a> It was a gorgeous day. It got up to 80 but it was breezy so we stayed cool. I'm so happy to have gotten outside to enjoy the weather and hike in a new park. Hank passed out the minute we got home and is still sleeping this very moment! <br /><div></div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-90024984433564990902011-03-24T08:43:00.003-04:002011-03-24T09:12:00.481-04:00Burlesque Bingo BangoAbout a month ago, my friend Misty approached me about going to a bingo night at a new cabaret joint in Fountain Square. Well, bingo just happens to be on my list of things to do in the next three years so I jumped at the opportunity. Plus, I'm pretty sure Misty is more excited about crossing things off my list than I am! I went on their website and saw that it was called Burlesque Bingo Bango. I had no idea what to expect. Is there a burlesque show going on during bingo? Are their intermissions? Do we even play bingo!!??<br /><br />Last night, Misty, Angela, and I met up (despite a hail storm) at <a href="http://www.whiterabbitcabaret.com/">White Rabbit Cabaret</a> to try a new experience. So there are two brothers, pictured below, who run the game. One is a mime and the other is the ring leader. They act silly on stage and entertain you while calling numbers. Every once in a while, a featured girl comes out and does a little tease. For each person that wins, she takes off one more thing. <br /><br /><br /><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwKHneRIKavFpFTDGviOmfL7gAJ6mWQ1yT5lMBFZzoIChvL7JD7WRMt8q1X4KcphJCP8nw4xGqUu5SeriC453DxYiXyt51yUaaNOYvFsUaJrGeXOPZwck8pwyAD0JjQnIsRiJw5AUtwSQ/s1600/Bingo2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5587626550065902466" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwKHneRIKavFpFTDGviOmfL7gAJ6mWQ1yT5lMBFZzoIChvL7JD7WRMt8q1X4KcphJCP8nw4xGqUu5SeriC453DxYiXyt51yUaaNOYvFsUaJrGeXOPZwck8pwyAD0JjQnIsRiJw5AUtwSQ/s320/Bingo2.JPG" border="0" /></a> Then when someone wins bingo, they have to shout it as loud as they can. They will check your numbers and if you have a bingo, they will bring you on stage. They embarrass you some, the girl dances for you, and basically you look like a fool up there. As I'm sitting there, I'm beginning to hope that I don't win. I don't want to go on stage. I don't want to have to do something ridiculous in front of 100 people. We sure enough, second round, I won. So Angela was trying to be nice and take the win for me so I didn't have to go on stage. I had an internal arguement with myself. Its an experience, Leslie! What's the worst thing that could happen? Just do it! So I got up there. <br /><br />Do you know how awkward it feels to have a girl dancing in front of you and you don't know whether to look at her, the audience, do some dance moves yourself, stand there like an idots, etc. I think I ended up doing some sort of combination of those reactions. There is video footage, but it will not be revealed. However, after they put you through that, they let you pick a prize. They are all hidden and you just have to pick based on blobs covered by cloth. So I picked one underneath a table. And this is what I won!<br /></p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEkRYeUBzHxZ93QexJBTs4Q9_IHzl2WeFiEKVB9zHx42DtCI9lwdwl6QKN2LnRn4Q-s6k1ibdS7jVdIgEQ2fCMeeYGHrAJo6uUH6bY-LM4zaG2s8HGFpYF_Nf8uuq0WRUlYqApE3BOcig/s1600/Bingo.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5587626544708480242" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 239px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEkRYeUBzHxZ93QexJBTs4Q9_IHzl2WeFiEKVB9zHx42DtCI9lwdwl6QKN2LnRn4Q-s6k1ibdS7jVdIgEQ2fCMeeYGHrAJo6uUH6bY-LM4zaG2s8HGFpYF_Nf8uuq0WRUlYqApE3BOcig/s320/Bingo.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Yeah you can't really see it. Its a ceramic squirrel that is holding a salt and pepper shaker. I can't wait to display this at my next dinner party. Misty ended up winning on our last game. Only she won and so did another girl so they made them slow dance on stage and then be judged. Misty lost unfortunately but came away with a horse statue. So we're all winners and we had an absolute blast. <br /><div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-6260697874677772322011-03-07T09:45:00.002-05:002011-03-07T09:56:10.101-05:002011 Indy Grand PrixOne of my goals for the next couple of years was to volunteer more and get more involved in the community. A while back, I joined the Indiana Sports Corporation's Volunteer list. I figured I could volunteer and possibly get to see some different sporting events. This weekend was the first time there was an event that I was free to work at. The 2011 Indy Grand Prix. I could see that it was a swimming event, but I had no clue what it meant. When I was signing up, I signed up for jobs like admissions, welcome committee, etc. The easy stuff. The one thing I didn't want to do: Timers. <br /><br />I get an email a couple weeks later saying "Here are the dates and times we need you and here's what you will be doing: Timers" Ugh. I was so worried. But I thought hey, how bad can it be? What's the worst that will happen? Let me tell you what this meant. It meant that I had a front row seat to see some of our nation's greatest swimmers. Not that I knew who all of them were. Michael Phelps was there who I know of. Some of the girls, I recognized their names. <br /><br />However, I met the new love of my life (sorry Chris). Ryan Lochte. I will definitely be watching some more swimming thanks to this guy. <br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj73CD5En1y486Efq7572TsPSc5L2RukGi0Ln6QLha-r_22uFQ-Q7IUKG14cNRQJXLkSah8nXsRclnjeEpiqo4X7cDzk9A9Weliq10z4TtMOeh_VULwmJTyZk1cH75lv7jV30wyKNwZ_u8/s1600/RyanLochte.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581349438325097458" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 216px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj73CD5En1y486Efq7572TsPSc5L2RukGi0Ln6QLha-r_22uFQ-Q7IUKG14cNRQJXLkSah8nXsRclnjeEpiqo4X7cDzk9A9Weliq10z4TtMOeh_VULwmJTyZk1cH75lv7jV30wyKNwZ_u8/s320/RyanLochte.jpg" border="0" /></a> He stood right next to me in a teeny weeny little lime green bikini that he wore for the first time. Haha. Super cute. And apparently he's very good. All joking aside, it was a really neat event to watch and get to participate in. I had fun timing, it was relatively easy and you can't beat the seats. I'm glad that I faced a fear and just did it. It turned out to be one of the best experiences and I can't wait to volunteer again. <br /><div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-15376766872797177042011-02-25T08:25:00.002-05:002011-02-25T08:59:11.223-05:00Sushi GrouponFor the longest time, Chris and I have talked about how cool it would be to learn how to make sushi. Of course, we talk about a lot of things that we would like to do and we never do them. I had seen that there was a place in Carmel that had a sushi class, but it was $75 a person. I like sushi, but not that much! Lucky for us, Groupon ran a special last year $35 a person. So I bought the Groupon and looked for a class. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a sushi class anywhere. I called and they told me that they had stopped doing sushi classes out of lack of interest. I was devasted. But I kept an eye on their calender. Finally, they started doing the classes again! I immediately signed us up for the February class and told Chris it was our Valentine's Day celebration. ;-) <br /><br />So last night was the class. Once we got there, I started feeling really nervous. The chef talked to us about technique and how you had to have the perfect amount of this and the perfect amound of that. I knew it was going to be a disaster. But as we got going, I got more confident. We chopped up the fish and the vegetables. The hardest part is laying the rice. You don't want it to be too thick of a layer but you don't want it to be to thin. I hate it when people make statements like that. :-( Here's a picture of Chris making some sushi. He has put rice on one side of the nori and then flipped it over so that it will be a roll with the rice on the outside. <br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxrLhhl4d-6idPqLxs3yYkrPUSdVdlbT0uox6b30QaSCnow2CcjjYNxsmyLfeeadw7pxE2fYN6Q3TU48i2PfSBV4CG5Prhi3mNVQMjo8w1uQ2oa8Uo_SjbfBQuyc_UKyKavAgBRfUNeok/s1600/Sushi1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577618346694107490" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxrLhhl4d-6idPqLxs3yYkrPUSdVdlbT0uox6b30QaSCnow2CcjjYNxsmyLfeeadw7pxE2fYN6Q3TU48i2PfSBV4CG5Prhi3mNVQMjo8w1uQ2oa8Uo_SjbfBQuyc_UKyKavAgBRfUNeok/s320/Sushi1.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />We made Philadelphia rolls, California rolls, and spicy tuna rolls. The spicy tuna was delicious! I made that one with the rice on the outside. It actually looked really good until I started cutting it up. You're supposed to have a clean slightly wet knife, but my one complaint was that there were not a lot of sinks. It was hard to clean off your hands and your utensils. So I think my knife was dirty and probably not wet enough. Below are our first two sushi rolls. Mine is the one on the bottom. Haha, I swear it tasted delicious. It just looks bad. Chris' came out beautiful. He did a very nice job and his were delicious as well. <br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxRi5t4ygGQm_0l5iupy_YxklgNOXXpQ3Rl2pSIuGzf2pRKCD7O1Yj9TJlKWUhro0yxRVAbPvfSyYrjFHMQisNuf2mLmipUu7lj0C8X12eZ98wmxs_Ts3nT4th-ATi-obVe8edHruPFxc/s1600/Sushi2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577618343357317186" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxRi5t4ygGQm_0l5iupy_YxklgNOXXpQ3Rl2pSIuGzf2pRKCD7O1Yj9TJlKWUhro0yxRVAbPvfSyYrjFHMQisNuf2mLmipUu7lj0C8X12eZ98wmxs_Ts3nT4th-ATi-obVe8edHruPFxc/s320/Sushi2.JPG" border="0" /></a> I have to say that even if you paid the $75 for the class, it was worth it. They gave us so much food. After rolling sushi, he had us make these spring rolls. It was very fresh tasting. Its got carrots, sprouts, shrimp, rice noodles, and mint leaves. The drive was pretty easy. I got there Friday night where we proceeded to play Spice Jenga which has quickly become my favorite game. How the two of them came up with this game and became so efficient at it is beyond me. <br /><br />We got up on Saturday morning and they drove me down to see where Dana works and show me around Paducah. I have to say that it is bigger than I thought it was. The downtown area is very quaint and they have a great waterfront area right on the Ohio River. We attempted to play Bingo so that Dana and I could each cross that off our lists. Unfortunately, it must have been false advertising. No bingo was going on. :-( <br /><br />Next they drove me past some crazy lady's house that is made of trash and then they took me to their bar. Funny how many similiarities it shared with Glory Days. Even closes at midnight! But Dana and I got in $12 worth of Megatouch which is more than I've spent in the last two years on that machine. After a while, we drove home and continued playing Spice Jenga until 3am. I will say that Dana showed me her dance moves, but I will not post what she looked like. I promised. :-) <br /><br />The next day I left about noon to make the drive back. I loved going to visit. Their house is super cute and I'm so happy for them and all they have accomplished in KY. I did take some pictures there, but nothing really worth posting. So instead, I'm posting my new favorite picture of me and Dana. Enjoy!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaLODuN50HVhQse4ENItF-529UyOmaXilg8_oSNwb0m82hiRLIADQQ1rl7y7ptbCyMVJ9MbhMSZyNKKx-nYWmpCDgxIsGpEhJYoBppp2kYbw-2U7M7wVgU696TTu0TObTAk5YNL-d1wYk/s1600/IMG_0030.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569298968137789842" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaLODuN50HVhQse4ENItF-529UyOmaXilg8_oSNwb0m82hiRLIADQQ1rl7y7ptbCyMVJ9MbhMSZyNKKx-nYWmpCDgxIsGpEhJYoBppp2kYbw-2U7M7wVgU696TTu0TObTAk5YNL-d1wYk/s320/IMG_0030.jpg" /></a><br /><div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-38686919600178530462011-01-03T08:38:00.003-05:002011-01-03T08:45:05.402-05:00Oliver WineryOn Thursday I was invited to a girl's slumber party and to a vineyard the next day. What better way to start off my new year than to knock another item off my 101 list? I immediately said yes. We partied into the night before laughing and gossiping, probably too into the night. The next morning was touch and go, but I finally gathered myself and we headed down to Martinsville, IN to go to Oliver Winery. <br /><br />I actually don't really care for wine, but I've always wanted to go to a vineyard. Below are the ladies trying out the different wines. Not only do I not like wine, but at that point in the day, I was never drinking again so I did not partake. <br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivfTz6sRAUIoxVML6Izt2iNAFSorOx8swyp8zpUKOtYtrx_t_r6HRPSBV-Mr7sdRHaz9N8VLZQzQ2gokjmlPkzi0uau9LagdmluVv5cd5t26aE4sNysxakuEnFSDFSs0ejsmu28uXw7ig/s1600/Vineyard1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557953783678917394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivfTz6sRAUIoxVML6Izt2iNAFSorOx8swyp8zpUKOtYtrx_t_r6HRPSBV-Mr7sdRHaz9N8VLZQzQ2gokjmlPkzi0uau9LagdmluVv5cd5t26aE4sNysxakuEnFSDFSs0ejsmu28uXw7ig/s320/Vineyard1.JPG" border="0" /></a> After the girls tested out some different wines, they bought a bottle share and some cheese and crackers. We took these out to their patio to sit and enjoy. It was 60 degrees that day!!! No thank you to the wine, but you can see the dent in the brie that I made. :-) <br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHIOzj3W0ShMxjAMDscvQm_SX7WoNIVAb-3MU4nHdUbGLoRsLVt3iYprpjwpjFiLFu4o9BBMitFLLeHyjFgTbOuRo40L7NaTuYDdf88kYefPawj4mB52jVI9ULL2rdSklzYzJXpRiTUvw/s1600/Vineyard2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557953779157187874" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHIOzj3W0ShMxjAMDscvQm_SX7WoNIVAb-3MU4nHdUbGLoRsLVt3iYprpjwpjFiLFu4o9BBMitFLLeHyjFgTbOuRo40L7NaTuYDdf88kYefPawj4mB52jVI9ULL2rdSklzYzJXpRiTUvw/s320/Vineyard2.JPG" border="0" /></a> Here was the view from the patio. Its very sad for all my Virginia friends that would love to meet him. So whenever Chris and I both go back to Va, we have to either kennel him or beg a friend to take care of him. Luckily, my friend Cassy travels as well and we watch their dog Layla and they watch Hank. Look below to see how cute they are!!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFNguaLZnN-RzrjXaWiBihDzzjMwCX19jCuVACHsj1wcZR3FxMjJW5sFkjrd6McF1a8FIglo33JmhIL5dJDofV9RKG6ysn0ZFcstp85NA4eegPocTjvtS8p6tV4D9B8bjflia5y4NzriY/s1600/Hank.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556183122059750018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 238px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFNguaLZnN-RzrjXaWiBihDzzjMwCX19jCuVACHsj1wcZR3FxMjJW5sFkjrd6McF1a8FIglo33JmhIL5dJDofV9RKG6ysn0ZFcstp85NA4eegPocTjvtS8p6tV4D9B8bjflia5y4NzriY/s320/Hank.jpg" border="0" /></a> Usually, when we are watching each other's dogs, we send a picture just to let Mom know their respective dog is doing okay. This is the picture I got on Sunday just as I was telling a guy that Hank doesn't really hump things. <br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVAvW4ldqh-ENu5TLu6hNDUq2lzFRf7xiHxDxd8jOVmC3qXQbmd7yYxsx5fEfXS8ntAnDhgfi2nDF4CxZvSpQeQyH-3tSDmdrgzVGmGDLZUNGwZ6Z3hgGyrUK44sA1AvErgIEDG7qUhpg/s1600/Hank+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556183119039355426" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 238px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVAvW4ldqh-ENu5TLu6hNDUq2lzFRf7xiHxDxd8jOVmC3qXQbmd7yYxsx5fEfXS8ntAnDhgfi2nDF4CxZvSpQeQyH-3tSDmdrgzVGmGDLZUNGwZ6Z3hgGyrUK44sA1AvErgIEDG7qUhpg/s320/Hank+2.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-42680549628427574252010-12-29T11:01:00.002-05:002010-12-29T11:19:58.126-05:00Our First Christmas DinnerSo Chris and I volunteered to make Christmas dinner this year using my parents house to host. I kept thinking how Chris and I will never be able to do this at our own home since we live so far away. We spent months figuring out what we wanted to make and putting together recipes. We also had to give other family members dishes to bring as well. I thought I did a good job telling people what to bring but you'll find out that we did run into some snags. <br /><br />The first problem we ran into was my sister was supposed to bake a pie on Thursday night. I missed out on her pies for Thanksgiving so I really wanted one there. However, she just recently moved and couldn't find her recipe for the filling. She makes everything from scratch. So Chris and I just made two of his mom's desserts as opposed to the one we had planned. Although I can sympathize with Kat's situation, she still had to be punished. Therefore, she was given potato peeling duty. One large Costco size bag of potatoes. <br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9LFu_yUxwmZ0CBwospuJk-OKjfJXQf0oHOk10D8KSUjBQ3I7akzeYhH3aDwZU73EQnMiqJNPrdRBEQcDTS0mxpXKiOPky7F0LuTRfLMGX8IRVT2xqOUiPf2ZUEy8PpudK0icmIM841Hw/s1600/Christmas+1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556135415496529554" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 238px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9LFu_yUxwmZ0CBwospuJk-OKjfJXQf0oHOk10D8KSUjBQ3I7akzeYhH3aDwZU73EQnMiqJNPrdRBEQcDTS0mxpXKiOPky7F0LuTRfLMGX8IRVT2xqOUiPf2ZUEy8PpudK0icmIM841Hw/s320/Christmas+1.JPG" border="0" /></a>After Christmas breakfast, Chris and I began prepping our dinner. Chris prepped the ham and put it in the oven. We had already made dessert the night before so we began washing lettuce, chopping onions, etc. Soon, we had nothing to do. So we went and showered and got ready for the party. At 4pm I started boiling the potatoes. I've made mashed potatoes before but never for 20 people. I had no idea how long it was going to take for the potatoes to get soft. As it turned out, I cooked them too long, but Chris managed to doctor them up and they looked normal. The family arrived as we were hitting the busy part of the night. Throwing everything together at the same time. Thankfully my mom has two ovens. <br /><br />The other two little snags we ran into were the dishes that were brought to share. Chris wanted to make creamed brussel sprouts. I didn't originally think it was a good idea b/c my family doesn't really care for brussel sprouts. But Chris wanted to make something that was traditional at his holiday meals so how could I deny him this pleasure? Then my cousin, Alice, made carmelized brussel sprouts. I only gave three people directions to bring vegetable dishes and now so far we had a roasted root salad, two brussel sprout dishes, and a strawberry salad. Then my cousin Martha showed up (very late) and since she was late, she had just run by the store and gotten a container of mixed greens with an avocado. Now we have three salads and two brussel sprout dishes. I thought, oh well, it is what it is. Fortunately or unfortuanately, the creamed sprouts didn't come out very well so we bagged them and just served our meal. Here it is below. <br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM0fTH_IyCDt0dn5s4ZsifByIXQigYWUHl5U3KvypDXQPYM0hm6OlAh_xnynKSTOy4_wWxCwAMylsVue3ovmf58M42H09LFkuAczFMDX_-idgMGyRqko_kKeys8wxDlzqLf2rTX5Nyjro/s1600/Christmas+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556135413762646802" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM0fTH_IyCDt0dn5s4ZsifByIXQigYWUHl5U3KvypDXQPYM0hm6OlAh_xnynKSTOy4_wWxCwAMylsVue3ovmf58M42H09LFkuAczFMDX_-idgMGyRqko_kKeys8wxDlzqLf2rTX5Nyjro/s320/Christmas+2.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT3Hk5fyIy-ehpjoHGNaroZsVB40qfizjegj5XxlQsOqQaNIg2fZmI-A6k0-PdJr_WMxlwE_Gc8CHXEiOodpESXQ-DDmBkTPg3kAi23pQagCRH5D88ftOqEQZThafKPwY15MnrGgJDogc/s1600/Christmas+3.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556135410697935634" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT3Hk5fyIy-ehpjoHGNaroZsVB40qfizjegj5XxlQsOqQaNIg2fZmI-A6k0-PdJr_WMxlwE_Gc8CHXEiOodpESXQ-DDmBkTPg3kAi23pQagCRH5D88ftOqEQZThafKPwY15MnrGgJDogc/s320/Christmas+3.JPG" border="0" /></a> My uncle Cy told me that when he heard we were cooking dinner, he was a little irritated. He didn't know that we knew how to cook and he thought it was going to be a disaster. He then said it was delicious. My uncle Brad said the potatoes were the highlight of the meal. My cousin Alice said that it was the best family meal we had ever had. Everyone went back for seconds. In fact, there was hardly any left over ham. I'm so happy and relieved that everyone liked it so much. And all in all, it wasn't the bad cooking the meal. We timed everything very well. The worst was cleaning up afterwards and having to hand wash all my mom's silver and crystal. Ugh! <br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-20253829815873260642010-12-22T10:09:00.003-05:002010-12-22T10:16:18.820-05:002nd Annual Cannon IV White Elephant PartyLast night was the Cannon IV White Elephant party. It was supposed to be hosted the Drakes, however their basement flooded the night before so Jon graciously took over. Once again it was a success. Below is a picture of the whole gang with their prizes.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZFNXzTaQec7q_c8y_g4-c32vc8UfVoTYShnehd5YcQet5Dojr1pTHgQP6dZyZO8NnKv_t1Qq8YLCcAFA9aW4zcWaIbu7Wj6PLlK-MS0uFOoDSwAwC7cwFIi9FcwrU61EsTtbsDcv3i3U/s1600/White+Elephant.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5553524629115454706" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZFNXzTaQec7q_c8y_g4-c32vc8UfVoTYShnehd5YcQet5Dojr1pTHgQP6dZyZO8NnKv_t1Qq8YLCcAFA9aW4zcWaIbu7Wj6PLlK-MS0uFOoDSwAwC7cwFIi9FcwrU61EsTtbsDcv3i3U/s320/White+Elephant.JPG" border="0" /></a>My favorite, of course, was the gift I received. I picked Ally's gift and received a Shirt Woot shirt of Krampus. If you don't know who Krampus is, google him. He's hilarious. Now Ally and I have matching t-shirts which we will definitely have to wear out when we go to the Vogue. <br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5DbziHooCmfd9Dw1gYR3GSYpCu52CHtnqU_CFLJAGgI-iM9MAcRf9Hgte2n1Uo_2334nYxPJJ6gCGcJkCBBPmvtUex9h1Wo5ZIGzBoquNJoqR5YBQsiv40JFW2Ee4GXkOIeJaSNaRqqw/s1600/White+Elephant+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5553524544543866274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5DbziHooCmfd9Dw1gYR3GSYpCu52CHtnqU_CFLJAGgI-iM9MAcRf9Hgte2n1Uo_2334nYxPJJ6gCGcJkCBBPmvtUex9h1Wo5ZIGzBoquNJoqR5YBQsiv40JFW2Ee4GXkOIeJaSNaRqqw/s320/White+Elephant+2.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-69369972193089678982010-12-21T10:20:00.002-05:002010-12-21T10:34:47.056-05:00Poppyseed ChickenYesterday, I needed a quick, cheap recipe to make for dinner. I was hungry and poor. Thankfully, Dana came to the rescuse with her Poppyseed chicken recipe. Here's how it goes. You boil some chicken for about 10 minutes and let cool. Then shred it and line the bottom of a 9X13 pan.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTfJFwuDeJdlY9xCbGwfVNDgdTQ8kY5bsgZzCh6LRCBb-89ZkH5oqkR194y53FVlaZr9N3CZ951oNe8CRKn0JiErCb27wFmpEfwWIxRBmznB0gDKoEeuAAc4Y39fQSejVVL5l9dX6_zqE/s1600/Casserole+1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5553156409341737362" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTfJFwuDeJdlY9xCbGwfVNDgdTQ8kY5bsgZzCh6LRCBb-89ZkH5oqkR194y53FVlaZr9N3CZ951oNe8CRKn0JiErCb27wFmpEfwWIxRBmznB0gDKoEeuAAc4Y39fQSejVVL5l9dX6_zqE/s320/Casserole+1.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div align="center">Next mix a can of cream of chicken soup with one cup of sour cream. It was delicious. I served it with white rice which I actually liked with it a lot better than I thought I would. Anyway, I highly recommend this recipe. The kicker was that Melvin Bullitt would be there to sign autographs for an hour. My heart leapt! Then I realized how many times I've heard of him doing an autograph session and I didn't go. So I immediately told Chris about it b/c I know that would help solidify everything. <br /><br />So Wednesday night, I got home, we had a couple drinks for some liquid courage (I know, but I was really nervous), and off we went to the stadium. I have never been to an event like this before but I also read that the first 300 people got t-shirts that say "Beat New England." I was hoping that it was going to be dead. And it was. Haha, maybe 30 people showed up for this. Yeah for us! It made me much more comfortable to ask for a photo with him. <br /><br />When we first walked in, we ran into Blue, the Colts mascot. I asked for my picture but of course, we both had to fluff our hair. Don't we look cute?<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixfgD5tp-DvOC8fRZO-5GPYbtqV7HHy-19po9hUICRCGL1fc8Y8nT_Blo9rocd39EivMIIsle9n24JUrKINqItpUH9q-hdFqfRYvyf8zQ1trQRc4pxg7JImdFewq28fb0q65qZnLNHnhY/s1600/Melvin1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541248914395167154" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixfgD5tp-DvOC8fRZO-5GPYbtqV7HHy-19po9hUICRCGL1fc8Y8nT_Blo9rocd39EivMIIsle9n24JUrKINqItpUH9q-hdFqfRYvyf8zQ1trQRc4pxg7JImdFewq28fb0q65qZnLNHnhY/s320/Melvin1.JPG" border="0" /></a>Chris wanted his picture taken as well although they got a little more goofy than I did!<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0xJeJwId2GfrOr4DuY16J7gqnZr_dbgH76Y8jCdECFQ_Ncl4ifDdqGzXAdEx754zYK9zPrR2aQEGUpWLDjRvVl1Hn_m_joFuulNIDaTM6N8kaF4ExjSI2D0aseSFipl1iTVOBymrmgPI/s1600/Melvin2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541248882154700114" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0xJeJwId2GfrOr4DuY16J7gqnZr_dbgH76Y8jCdECFQ_Ncl4ifDdqGzXAdEx754zYK9zPrR2aQEGUpWLDjRvVl1Hn_m_joFuulNIDaTM6N8kaF4ExjSI2D0aseSFipl1iTVOBymrmgPI/s320/Melvin2.jpg" border="0" /></a> And here is my new favorite picture in the whole world (except the ones of me and Chris, of course). I'm doing this through blog b/c that's about all I can do. Congrats on your Eagles winning. It was an ugly game, but your team came out on top. I'm so happy for you. (sweet smile)<br /><br />Now that is all I will discuss about it. I don't care if the Eagles fans thought it was a bad call, it was a helmet to helmet hit which is no bueno. <br /><br />When you sign on, we can talk about my gay bar experience on Saturday night. :-)Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-84930153290146867352010-11-06T11:07:00.002-04:002010-11-06T11:12:09.282-04:00Congrats to the Godfreys!Last Saturday, my cousin Liz finally bit the bullet and married Tracy. Sorry, I've been super busy and just so excited to share everything that I'm doing! Today Chris and I decided to go to Goose the Market on 25th and Delaware for lunch. I've been DYING to try this place out for at least 2 years. They have an amazing selection of meats, seafood, cheese, and wines. Not only can you go in there and grab your dinner for that even to toss on the grill, but they make fancy sandwiches! Now I'm usually a ham, lettuce, cheese, mayo kind of a girl. I follow Goose on Twitter and am familiar with some of their crazy sandwiches so I was prepared. Here's what I ordered:<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4QoLdWoMAZxitPedUlHMameWTD15aVYeAn06X1TGgu8LtE3_2-XYs35lD9L2X91v1iyiI9jK4jhSybVLv44kXOuCpnd7p1Hbxpy7wAE88GTNomGd1UtRja6Am2sAdL8wEBdibhuij1kQ/s1600/Goose.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536132699836135138" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4QoLdWoMAZxitPedUlHMameWTD15aVYeAn06X1TGgu8LtE3_2-XYs35lD9L2X91v1iyiI9jK4jhSybVLv44kXOuCpnd7p1Hbxpy7wAE88GTNomGd1UtRja6Am2sAdL8wEBdibhuij1kQ/s320/Goose.JPG" border="0" /></a> It's called Ike and its smoked ham, fontina, watercress, and whole grain mustard on a baguette. It was DELICIOUS! I almost asked them to leave off the mustard, but I decided I needed to be more open minded and try new things. They also had a small selection of vegetables in there along with a little section of special vingerettes, syrups, jellies, etc. They even had quail eggs there! I can't wait to go back one day and go down in their cellar of beers and wine to check that out! <br /><div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-79572596604820663982010-11-05T09:01:00.002-04:002010-11-05T09:07:38.887-04:00NFL 5KWow, I really think I did too much last weekend! I already have two posts about events and I still have two more! And I'm not even going in order. Sorry! <br /><br />Last Saturday, my friend Ally and I decided to walk in the NFL 5K. This is a new event that I thought was supporting the NFL's Play 60 program and the American Heart Association. It turns out that it was really to promote the NFL's new women's line of the NFL gear. Don't worry. I wasn't too upset. I like the idea of promoting women being fans of the NFL. It's not just a sport for boys anymore! <br /><br /><div align="center">Here's Ally and me at the start line getting ready to go!</div><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYsdQybQwAG4fXH9VjFeekB5VRONANWhfGOsj-Y61O717dgEkgVGIyjSfAYNnac4YMU21loaD89key3h6rRpUN-O_Bk52l9Aet9jPlCJtUyZSGLvru2U4kxBRZUiPj-lPF3z_6vgRd0Gk/s1600/NFL+5K1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536050342206014562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYsdQybQwAG4fXH9VjFeekB5VRONANWhfGOsj-Y61O717dgEkgVGIyjSfAYNnac4YMU21loaD89key3h6rRpUN-O_Bk52l9Aet9jPlCJtUyZSGLvru2U4kxBRZUiPj-lPF3z_6vgRd0Gk/s320/NFL+5K1.jpg" border="0" /></a>My parents were in town so they came down to watch us finish. Her husband is one of the chief engineers for Chip Ganassi Racing. I have mentioned several times to her how big of an IRL fan my dad is and she always said, when he's in town, bring him by for a tour. Well, I'm not a mooch and I certainly don't use people for things so I felt uncomfortable bringing it up. However, at Liz's wedding this weekend, and we had Eric, Shelley and my dad in one room. My dad was good and waited until the breakfast at my aunt's house the next morning to bring it up. Much to our surprise, they said let's go right now!<br /><br />So we ditched my cousin (she did show up three hours late to her own breakfast!) and all headed up to the northwest side. The inside of the building is very impressive. I don't think we saw a speck of dirt anywhere. I was almost afraid to touch anything!<br /><br /><div align="center">Here's Chris with the winning car!</div><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5hZMGK-7_4yTZ8bM3oPPHKeE8oC69Jgbg3mgr8J1pJ5HbfVn96Y4MrRL1-_pqA_eyrmbvB1gLUzAKKVGNKsAce7BxLxYAeLp45-LyQSRfOzd7kATD40gtWGAXxyGmZgm6sehSkJvW3q4/s1600/ganassi3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536047993666856370" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5hZMGK-7_4yTZ8bM3oPPHKeE8oC69Jgbg3mgr8J1pJ5HbfVn96Y4MrRL1-_pqA_eyrmbvB1gLUzAKKVGNKsAce7BxLxYAeLp45-LyQSRfOzd7kATD40gtWGAXxyGmZgm6sehSkJvW3q4/s320/ganassi3.jpg" border="0" /></a>This is inside one of the truck rigs that hauls everyone and the cars around the country. </div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKbbIVKJgs-vMjGkRnKds7xL6Q7h1RqjTVSv1OD6g4JTABjYNlijKftzaB9kCI-JSvFYpROb8r3GvSj8b5dsRbkU2kHhPWT1t3L3kSp3qF5tCt4zzVbrWJI79akHWo22xsvDALR7797EQ/s1600/ganassi2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536047989900817426" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKbbIVKJgs-vMjGkRnKds7xL6Q7h1RqjTVSv1OD6g4JTABjYNlijKftzaB9kCI-JSvFYpROb8r3GvSj8b5dsRbkU2kHhPWT1t3L3kSp3qF5tCt4zzVbrWJI79akHWo22xsvDALR7797EQ/s320/ganassi2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div align="center">Look at all of our trophies!<br /><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhVPt011TdBPq1qgP9wbXRmSw9IMW2bxlF_8cT1hpdlU_0tq8ngg2yQfwpE-Gb76QJ7RktWqWo0sWC-vNyOdb7zeYa8x84OdQuXkQKBoJbHcy2PaMxjFMaMdNNocw8hNbahglX-v7ksU/s1600/ganassi1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536047990168495170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhVPt011TdBPq1qgP9wbXRmSw9IMW2bxlF_8cT1hpdlU_0tq8ngg2yQfwpE-Gb76QJ7RktWqWo0sWC-vNyOdb7zeYa8x84OdQuXkQKBoJbHcy2PaMxjFMaMdNNocw8hNbahglX-v7ksU/s320/ganassi1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />This was just one of the tables of trophies. There were at least three more! We were not allowed to take pictures inside of the garage area where they are working on the cars. But it was so cool getting to see the process from the inside. It is amazing how much of the materials they produce on their own. I'm not sure I understood about half of what Eric was saying, but it was neat seeing the pieces of the cars and how they put them together. I crossed another item off my list! I have been wanting to go do a lot of the touristy things in Indy since I moved. However, I was always too busy or would forget about it. So my list has been helping do so many new things! My parents were in town for my cousin's wedding and so we did a little sight seeing after my 5K. We went to President Benjamin Harrison's home. It was where he would campaign from during his election years. <br /><br />The whole house was beautiful and our tour guide was awesome. He was very knowledgable and knew a lot of little side stories. One of the coolest things we saw was this Reginaphone. My parents have one of these in their home that has been passed down in the family for years. I had never seen one anywhere else! It's basically the first version of a record player. <br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0-0N0qKJrhyYdpIYi1_Jynpp46cjTVnv3QsUH4Bq11MWSXen9WbINZQ9LHVvOINsk2RwVLkUBbOBxMhxpyeNQt13DwqBNUnJNhwjgg2zdC71cePiGEDTbSM9adkyvwO_Ucrr3rlu6GQ/s1600/IMG_1106.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535102824175577938" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0-0N0qKJrhyYdpIYi1_Jynpp46cjTVnv3QsUH4Bq11MWSXen9WbINZQ9LHVvOINsk2RwVLkUBbOBxMhxpyeNQt13DwqBNUnJNhwjgg2zdC71cePiGEDTbSM9adkyvwO_Ucrr3rlu6GQ/s320/IMG_1106.JPG" /></a> The other cool thing that we saw there was this letter from Helen Keller to First Lady Harrison. Mrs Harrison got very sick and when the country found out, letters flooded in from all over. Some were saved and years later, the museum volunteers found this one. How amazing that at the time, Helen Keller wasn't famous and yet her letter was saved for us to see!<br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTNHIkyxcuiC7cvxXtX6_P5oZKQq4AMcZa10zU9-wODb4oYVxsFpgH62wYOjWOf_7J38Xo1i0JiqolHfGFaRrIjg7vfW0QBRn1hA8I-ABjx8jDpFwtH2ggXbBokmj6E_psEpup5g_mgyU/s1600/IMG_1108.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535102819354521410" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTNHIkyxcuiC7cvxXtX6_P5oZKQq4AMcZa10zU9-wODb4oYVxsFpgH62wYOjWOf_7J38Xo1i0JiqolHfGFaRrIjg7vfW0QBRn1hA8I-ABjx8jDpFwtH2ggXbBokmj6E_psEpup5g_mgyU/s320/IMG_1108.JPG" /></a> Me hanging out with Benji on the caboose of the train. <br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYMYS_dVG_f8CY3KTlyQZV-ZUzRb2HckHL5-ycxS1MxwLB9PVkCz6ARUyQESxcV-SU3SNBTTsiYf6n88x0I5hIT0wTyRXNczmOOsSBipkPdqnFlaeHlD0QmN_iMM0Hy70lC1oAPhYNEI4/s1600/IMG_1111.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535102816711173666" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYMYS_dVG_f8CY3KTlyQZV-ZUzRb2HckHL5-ycxS1MxwLB9PVkCz6ARUyQESxcV-SU3SNBTTsiYf6n88x0I5hIT0wTyRXNczmOOsSBipkPdqnFlaeHlD0QmN_iMM0Hy70lC1oAPhYNEI4/s320/IMG_1111.JPG" /></a><br />My mom and I in front of the home.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjisu46dyYanQcpA5AZ9Bu01Ok6R3L1os9fUnpZCQFRdKlcayJQ-Q6KMMmHGP1ZNCzyDr-DSNPvlsIg5XUY2TSE7fDHjVohK-O8mByNbjdczCNZ-AbznVeuIImA3R-26suinvhhVd128E/s1600/IMG_1113.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535102812520879410" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjisu46dyYanQcpA5AZ9Bu01Ok6R3L1os9fUnpZCQFRdKlcayJQ-Q6KMMmHGP1ZNCzyDr-DSNPvlsIg5XUY2TSE7fDHjVohK-O8mByNbjdczCNZ-AbznVeuIImA3R-26suinvhhVd128E/s320/IMG_1113.JPG" /></a><br /><div></div></div><br /></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-41766564389029737902010-10-28T10:01:00.004-04:002010-10-28T10:28:41.493-04:002nd Annual Pumpkin Carving PartyWell last night was our 2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. Smart? No. But I like it when things are crazy. Then at least I have an excuse as to why I'm not getting everything done. Last night, I tried a new, very simple recipe. Tomato Basil sandwiches. Yum! All you do is take a tomato, cut it in half. Then put some chopped garlic, salt and pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Then cook the tomato for an hour at 350. Take your favorite bread (the recipe actually called for a baguette, but we used ciabatta bread) and slice it. Put a couple leaves of basil, the tomato and sliced mozzarella. You're done! Enjoy your somewhat healthy sandwich. Here's the picture! <br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQqH73J-N_SWg76GxkevKFoAWpIis4_cMr-8pVkAh8e20NJYezayI33jYTZ0uc3EgLu5DJ8cvQJWGRNyXwCPGrvkn35Ye6_k4V7tnKR9XkBTgAnTZJIYW3BeO7VbxxB-ePomIM8rhvb7Q/s1600/Sandwich.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5532696676519017986" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQqH73J-N_SWg76GxkevKFoAWpIis4_cMr-8pVkAh8e20NJYezayI33jYTZ0uc3EgLu5DJ8cvQJWGRNyXwCPGrvkn35Ye6_k4V7tnKR9XkBTgAnTZJIYW3BeO7VbxxB-ePomIM8rhvb7Q/s320/Sandwich.JPG" border="0" /></a>And here's a picture of Hank staring at me while I eat my sandwich. What a fun weekend! About 6 months ago, Heather told me that she, Stacy, and Kristen would be driving through Indy to go to the Skins/Bears game in Chicago. I checked the Colts schedule and we were on a bye. So I invited myself along. <br /><br />Everyone drove up on Friday to Indy where we went to dinner at the Claddaugh. If you haven't been, I strongly recommend it and get the Monte Cristo. It's delish! Then we went back to my house for drinks and to catch a couple hours of sleep. We got up early Saturday morning and headed Chi-town. It was a nice drive. I'm sure we annoyed the hell out of anyone that is friends with all four of us on Facebook. I believe we were updating about every 30 seconds. <br /><br />We got to Chicago around noon and headed straight to Niketown. The girls like to go there to stock up on Bears gear. I found a Blackhawks snow hat for Chris. :-) Here are the girls comparing their hands to Michael Jordan. <br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNxL7MaCRhya5csT7krjApXLB8BpABuwXPQ6V7GZWPXcCRNSLlW0o7vq4mej0B5tgDT6j5UXpy-IO4DhKM_OY7N5oNnVbCbaHJidEisUCyNf5_5W-EFWo9IT5Os1fxxiO2O7wNrTrRFhE/s1600/Chicago+1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5532053202441375314" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNxL7MaCRhya5csT7krjApXLB8BpABuwXPQ6V7GZWPXcCRNSLlW0o7vq4mej0B5tgDT6j5UXpy-IO4DhKM_OY7N5oNnVbCbaHJidEisUCyNf5_5W-EFWo9IT5Os1fxxiO2O7wNrTrRFhE/s320/Chicago+1.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br />After that, we headed to Gino's East to try our first authentic Chicago style pizza. It was very good, but I'm sorry Chicago, you don't hold a light to my NY style pizza. And it takes too long to cook! <br /><br />Next up was a stop at the hotel to get checked in and get our tickets for the game on Sunday. Here was the view from the girls' suite. If you look closely, just to the left of the tall buildings, is Soldier Field. :-)<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTCCrJtYg014DAFkaTQRkqnU19WzuMs8NPIHZKn-b6HZu7kF8xvqfgjQQwvPEXnLp059q4PldtDCTUJPXc_P-JHVkhU-P9n7XKqTwzEdksXAgfok4kE6ogpk7T5T-3T0xQJrbaWOE0i6A/s1600/Chicago+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5532053194638026834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTCCrJtYg014DAFkaTQRkqnU19WzuMs8NPIHZKn-b6HZu7kF8xvqfgjQQwvPEXnLp059q4PldtDCTUJPXc_P-JHVkhU-P9n7XKqTwzEdksXAgfok4kE6ogpk7T5T-3T0xQJrbaWOE0i6A/s320/Chicago+2.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div><div>Saturday night, we headed to Wrigleyville to meet up with people's various friends and/or family members at this bar called Trader Todd's. Which of course, we call Trader Joes about a million times. It was a very fun bar. Not too packed, but had enough people to make it fun. Heather tried to convince me that Reggie Bush was at the bar, but when I saw him, I told him that he was too short and his bling bling wasn't big enough. Whoops! Oh and the bouncer thought I was hot. Made me feel good, but not a chance, my friend! </div><div> </div><div>For being as drunk as we were, we got home pretty early. We only made one more stop after Wrigleyville at the bar across from the hotel called Kitty O'Sheas. I think Stacy just wanted to see if she was still kicked out of that place permanently. I don't want to know. </div><div> </div><div>Sunday morning, we were all up at 7:30am ready to go downstairs and grab some breakfast. We did that, came upstairs, showered, and started drinking by 9am. Good decisions made by good people. We got a nice buzz going on and headed out for the game. <br /><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9WOuK_J38QierJo9rDGAZ8DLV0xZFt7-CS_TkQJyV2ulVMHeUv71SAgG2ARTyjid94iZ8l3OUUHE07RjbhGQXGa9L0euDKtBuoQhQbDpbGAp7or4mJ_Z-gN6WHSu8YO1rEjtqMXyzDuk/s1600/Chicago+3.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5532053048288863746" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9WOuK_J38QierJo9rDGAZ8DLV0xZFt7-CS_TkQJyV2ulVMHeUv71SAgG2ARTyjid94iZ8l3OUUHE07RjbhGQXGa9L0euDKtBuoQhQbDpbGAp7or4mJ_Z-gN6WHSu8YO1rEjtqMXyzDuk/s320/Chicago+3.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />Here's the view from our seats! So I cheered for every interception (a lot), taught the Redskin fans that their punters nickname is Hunter the Punter, and I showed the Bears fans that real football fans stand up when their defense is on the field and its third down. We also threw several dance parties in our section, drank a ton of beer, made friends with everyone, and even kept a friendship going despite someone's team losing. Check out the last pic. :-) Friends forever! And I get to check another item off my list of 101 things. <br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaxr3OQR1Q4KtsU5kYtZwih_LeLzsXl62DByEQzJW6zhlHYsCUnsZr-FCCAmkGeItNT4hFacd1pazSJGt90K2i3srTBZd6Ba5Y2FezDZWDxVy0JWmru66E_qSmSucMULX-AmyA5cpX2h0/s1600/Chicago+7.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5532052994144682642" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaxr3OQR1Q4KtsU5kYtZwih_LeLzsXl62DByEQzJW6zhlHYsCUnsZr-FCCAmkGeItNT4hFacd1pazSJGt90K2i3srTBZd6Ba5Y2FezDZWDxVy0JWmru66E_qSmSucMULX-AmyA5cpX2h0/s320/Chicago+7.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div></div></div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7664609089327315570.post-65319100897270101642010-10-19T14:00:00.001-04:002010-10-19T14:01:24.707-04:00FMLThese are the types of conversations that I have on a daily basis:<br /><br />Dana: i know. random.org is random<br />me: wow<br /><br />Thanks Dana for the stimulating conversation!<br /><br />SHOUT OUT!Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11834774833268047041noreply@blogger.com1
